Broadcast Angles

Decide what your AI host talks about before playing a track

What are "Broadcast Angles" for?

When the AI Host speaks between two tracks, its format is chosen by the platform (dry announcement, transition, anecdote, direct address to listeners). Its topic, however, comes from an angle. Without angles, the model improvises and ends up repeating the same theme, word for word, several times throughout the day.

The "Broadcast Angles" page lets you build this list of topics. The subtitle sums it up: "What your host talks about before playing a track. An angle is drawn for each break, based on the time of day, and the same topic is never repeated back to back."

Good to know: Angles only apply to AI Host breaks (playlists, show generator, scheduled slots). They do not affect your recorded voice tracks or segments. Editing angles uses no credits.

Where to find it

Open the "Production" menu > "AI Host", then click the "Broadcast Angles" button at the top of the page. The direct address is /dashboard/animateur-ia/angles.

  • If your account manages several stations, the station selector in the top right determines which station is affected: each station has its own angles.
  • If no station is linked to the account, the page displays "No station on this account".

A banner summarises the current state: "N active angles out of M" and, if the host has already spoken, "Over the last 7 days: N break(s) with an angle".

Built-in angles

Each station starts with a ready-to-use list of angles, grouped by time slot: "Any time" (the track itself, the artist, where this track gets played, the link with what just played, listening while doing something else, the meaning of the title, the current time, the time of year…), then "Night (12 am – 6 am)", "Morning (6 am – 10 am)", "Midday (10 am – 1 pm)", "Afternoon (1 pm – 5 pm)", "End of day (5 pm – 9 pm)" and "Evening (9 pm – 12 am)", each with topics suited to that moment: waking up, the morning commute, the first coffee, night owls, people heading home…

Each card displays, for a given angle:

  • the "Active" toggle — a disabled angle remains saved but is no longer drawn;
  • its label (120 characters maximum) and its technical code;
  • a "N× / 7 d" badge when it has been used recently;
  • the "Intent (internal instruction, never broadcast on air)" — what the host should aim to say;
  • the "Time slots" during which it can be used;
  • the "Maximum per day" (0 = no limit), useful for a topic that quickly becomes repetitive.

A "Delete this angle" bin removes an angle after confirmation: "Delete this angle? The host will no longer use it."

Adding an angle

The "Add an angle" block at the bottom of the page asks for:

  • a "Label", for example "Sunday market";
  • an "Intent", for example "What happens in town on Sunday morning: the market, the open shops, people wandering around.";
  • "Time slots" — "None checked = any time".

Confirm with the green button, then remember to click "Save" (at the top or bottom of the page): this is what saves the entire list, including all changes.

Tip: Name things, people, gestures or a time of day — an atmosphere is not a topic. Describe an intent, never a ready-made phrase: the host will reproduce word for word whatever it is shown. "The morning commute, the road, the bus" works. "The silence of the night" gives nothing to say. And "say: good morning to everyone stuck in traffic" will appear verbatim in every single break.
Example

Radio Soleil, a local seaside station, adds three angles to the original list.

  • "The beach and the tide" — Intent: "The state of the sea, the tide, those heading out to swim or fish this morning." — Slots: Morning, Midday — Maximum per day: 2.
  • "Sunday market" — Intent: "What happens in town on Sunday morning: the market, the open shops, people wandering around." — Slots: Morning.
  • "Terraces" — Intent: "The end of the day outdoors: terraces filling up, aperitif hour, the fading light." — Slots: End of day, Evening.

Why: these angles speak to listeners\' lives at the time they are tuning in. The cap of 2 per day on the tide angle prevents the host from bringing it up at every turn, and the original list continues to feed the rest of the breaks.

Restoring the original angles

The "Restore original angles" button resets the angles provided by VestaRadio to their initial state. The confirmation specifies: "Your changes to these angles will be overwritten (any angles you have added are kept)." Your own angles are therefore never lost by this action.

Frequently asked questions

The host always repeats the same topic. Check that several angles are set to "Active" for the relevant time slot: with only one angle available at that hour, the platform has no choice. Add more, or broaden the time slots of existing angles.

Angle or show topic? The topic of a show (set in "Create a show") is the through-line for a specific programme. Angles are the pool of topics for the entire station, at any hour. Both work together.

Angle or host instructions? The "Host instructions" on a playlist line or a scheduled slot are editorial guidelines (length, tone, what must always be mentioned). The angle provides the topic. An instruction such as "keep it to two sentences" and an angle such as "the first coffee" combine without conflict.
